Black eye bean/ pea, chavla/chawla curry
Namaste everyone! Welcome to my cooking channel “ Indian soul in Europe”. Today we are going to learn a very simple, basic and nutritious recipe called black eye bean curry. Black eye bean is also known as black eyed pea, chawla or lobia and it is available in every Indian or asian grocery store. It is a basic curry recipe that means you can replace any bean or vegetable to black eyed bean.
Ingredients:
250g black eyed pea
3 medium sized potatoes
1 tomato or 1\2 tin tomato puree
2 Onions
1 Tsp spices (Cumin turmeric, fennel, mustard, coriander seeds)
2Tsp oil
1\2 Tsp salt
Recipe:
I soaked black eye beans overnight in water and than boiled beans and potatoes together in pressure cooker. this recipe can also be made in slow cooker just don’t boil beans and potatoes before adding to slow cooker. Now chop the onions, heat the oil and add spices to it. Wait until the spices crackle.  Now add onions to it. Let onions cook until it become golden in colour. Add peeled and chopped potates and beans to it. Now put salt and chopped tomatoes and let it cook for about 5 mins. If the currz appears thin you can mash it using a masher. This will thicken the curry. Enjoy this curry with chapatti, naan , rice or any other bread. The ingradients used in this recipe are very cheap but healthy. You just have to plan ahead and you can have a fulfilling meal in less than two euro.
